I've been playing Second Life on and off since 2018, not for the roleplay or community but mostly for the exploration, collectability and customisation. There's something really special about a virtual world like this. There's so much variety in what you can find in SL, from high quality objects and clothes designed by professional 3D artists imported from external software, to items cobbled together with shapes and stock textures in-world. It's also home to so many different communities that all come together to experience the things this game has to offer that most other MMOs don't, with it's allowing of adult content and what your avatar or environment can look like limited only by your imagination (and prim count, but the cap is usually generous enough). And it all works together to make a world that feels distinctly computery, mundane yet fantastical.
